Nvidia DLSS3.0 is only compatible with GeForce RTX 4000 GPUs

Samuel Willetts >Updated Sep 20, 2022 >Gaming hardwareNvidia DLSS 3.0 will be available October 12. The technology promises to deliver higher performance and image fidelity than the current version. The latest version of the upscaling technology does not work on RTX 4000 GPUs. This leaves current GeForce GPU owners in the dust.

This is because Nvidia DLSS3.0 requires fourth-generation Tensor Cores as well as a new Optical Flow Accelerator. These are only available on GeForce RTX 4000 cards like the RTX 4090 or RTX 4080.

This hardware pairing is found on Nvidia's top graphics cards. It allows for the feature to increase fps further through 'Optical Multi Frame Generation'. This technology sees completely new frames instead of pixels drawn by deep learning technology.

Comparison of DLSS 3.0 versus native render using Cyberpunk 2077 is a good example. Performance jumps from around 20 frames per second up to about 100fps. Comparing DLSS 2.0 to 3.0, performance is impressive at 60fps and 90fps respectively.

Portal RTX and A Plague Tale Requiem are among the 35 games that will be able to support Nvidia DLSS3.0. This number can only increase exponentially as team green claims that game designers "can quickly enable it within existing titles that support Nvidia DLSS 2.0".
